First Sunday in October is a very special day as we observe World Communion Sunday with our brothers and sisters all around the globe. One bread, one body, one Lord who is over us all. We rejoice in God’s mighty work among His people.
This Sunday also marks the first of five Sundays when we can bring in books, DVD’s, and stuffed animals for our ministry partnership with the Pediatric Emergency Room at the VCU Medical Center. Make the most of this opportunity to share and demonstrate the love of Jesus to these needy children.
It’s almost time for Trunk or Treat and you can be a part of this outreach to the children in our community on October 31st. Bring your car to Laurel Hill, pop the trunk, and let the “Good Times” begin. We can use volunteers to help with supper! Don’t forget to dress in your Halloween best.
Help us make this event a fun and unique time for our children. We also need donations of candy, individually wrapped or pencils, erasers and other small useful items or toys. If possible, please bring your candy and other items to the church by Sunday, October 27th. Thank you so much for your help and participation.
For info or to volunteer call Stephanie & Jeremy Rowan @795-1973 H or 221-9048 C.
Batten down the hatches as Sandy approaches and make your way to church on Sunday. Here’s the bulletin. It’s our last chance together to prep for Trunk or Treat October 31st and our Fall Mission Dinner & Auction on November 3rd. Even if we lose our electric power, let’s seek the power of the Holy Spirit together!
As pastor of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church there is only one week left for donations towards our Mission Partnership with the MCV Medical Center Children’s Emergency Room. Books, DVDs, and stuffed animals are all being received through this Sunday, October 28th.
Then, next week is full of outreach and service together. Tuesday, October 30th a group from Laurel Hill will be Feeding the Homeless as part of the Caritas Ministry. Wednesday, October 31st we’ll be hosting TRUNK OR TREAT for the children of our community and then Saturday, November 3rd we will have our Fall Mission Dinner & Auction. You don’t want to miss any of these great opportunities for service.
But, as I think of these immediate opportunities I’m casting my eyes out into 2013. The first week of January, Karen and I will be headed to Dunwoody, Georgia for the 2013 Congress on Evangelism and then sharing a week apart to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Yes, I am already excited about that.
Then, in February 2013, I am joining a group from Laurel Hill UMC and the Friends of Barnabas Foundation for a medical mission to Honduras. Please be in prayer for the saving work we will accomplish in Jesus’ name! Also, look for the ways you can support those who will be involved with this mission trip. More news on that, coming soon…
