Korea – Here I Come!

hanstravellogo It’s official now; I just booked my travel reservations for the Pilgrimage for Spiritual Renewal to Korea for October 16 – 25th, 2014. I am looking forward to traveling with our Bishop, Young Jin Cho and the other clergy participants from the Virginia Conference.

Thanks to everyone for their generous support enabling me to be a part of this spiritual experience. I look forward to what I will learn from the Lord and from our sisters and brothers in Korea.

Please keep my ministry in your prayers as we finish the work this week necessary for recording Hymned in by Grace this fall. If you would like to support that work, share your donations with Norman directly or send it c/o Norman Ramsey Ministries, 2501 Caliber Drive, Henrico, VA 23231 or give through PayPal to reverendnorm@msn.com. Thank you so much.

Homeless Feeding at Mount Moriah Baptist Church

Homeless Fedding

Phil Deane reported that the team from Laurel Hill UMC fed 196 people today and just had enough food.  The crew really worked well together. Those who went downtown were Billy & Judy Walker, Theresa and David Duke, Patrice Moore, Gail Dagenhart, and Phil Deane.  Thanks go out to David Ogburn for organizing things and to Barbara Wendel for picking up the food and supplies.

If you would like to be a part of this vital ministry, our homeless feeding ministry takes place every time there is a fifth Tuesday in the month.  The next opportunity to serve is April 30th!

Looking Forward to Mission & Ministry

As pastor of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church there is only one week left for donations towards our Mission Partnership with the MCV Medical Center Children’s Emergency Room.  Books, DVDs, and stuffed animals are all being received through this Sunday, October 28th.

Then, next week is full of outreach and service together.  Tuesday, October 30th a group from Laurel Hill will be Feeding the Homeless as part of the Caritas Ministry.  Wednesday, October 31st we’ll be hosting TRUNK OR TREAT for the children of our community and then Saturday, November 3rd we will have our Fall Mission Dinner & Auction.  You don’t want to miss any of these great opportunities for service.

But, as I think of these immediate opportunities I’m casting my eyes out into 2013.  The first week of January, Karen and I will be headed to Dunwoody, Georgia for the 2013 Congress on Evangelism and then sharing a week apart to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary.  Yes, I am already excited about that.

Then, in February 2013, I am joining a group from Laurel Hill UMC and the Friends of Barnabas Foundation for a medical mission to Honduras.  Please be in prayer for the saving work we will accomplish in Jesus’ name! Also, look for  the ways you can support those who will be involved with this mission trip.  More news on that, coming soon…

October Newsletter and Calendar

As we move down the road into fall please keep up with how you can be involved in fulfilling the ministry and mission of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church and Weekday School.  October is a special month for many reasons.  This is the month we collect books, DVDs, and stuffed animals for our partnership with the VCU Medical Center’s Children’s Emergency Room.  It would be great if everyone who attended worship this month brought at least one item for the children.  Have you picked out anything. yet?

Our October Newsletter is full of information.  Check out our calendar for the month and see if you are responsible for serving in a specific way on the Lay Ministers page.
