July Newsletter and Calendar

libertyjuly

We look forward to the month of July and the reminder to each of us that our liberty is best preserved in responsibility. As your pastor I remind you of your responsibility to uphold the ministries of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church with your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness.

In this month’s newsletter we give thanks for God leading us forward through the Uphill Challenges we face. We know that in Jesus’ name and in the power of the Spirit we can serve the Lord together. Our Lay Servants will lead the way.

Celebrate our graduates and pray for them as they seek God’s will and purpose for their lives.

Also, review our last post and see how you can help with “Hay Day” Vacation Bible School.

The Love of Jesus and VBS

weekend-vbs-hayday-logo-colorThis summer Laurel Hill UMC is seeking to moo-ve people to know that Jesus loves them with a special weekend “Hay Day” Vacation Bible School! It will start with a Cookout Kickoff on Friday, August 2nd. Saturday, August 3rd we will focus on sharing the Bible fact that Jesus loves us, sing some fun moo-sic together, play some wild games, and work on Projects with a Purpose(R). Sunday, August 4th, we will celebrate and worship together in a dramatic and wonderful way that Jesus really does love us! And then, we will enjoy 1st Sunday Dinner. Woohoo!

It’s going to be great but we need your help. Please contact Sylvia Aryeh (Call 804-852-0353 or email her at sylvia_aryeh@yahoo.com) if you can serve the Lord and share his love through Vacation Bible School.

That are a lot of different things you could do: teach or help lead a group, help with the cookout or in the kitchen, help with games, help with preparing the decorations, or help with the projects or the moo-sic, or more! Contact Sylvia or be ready to say “Yes” when she calls you. Remember the Lord wants to use you to help someone be moo-ved to know his love!

Helping those in Oklahoma.

umcorlogo You can minister hope and healing for those devastated by tornadoes in Oklahoma. Pray first. This is how we can be a first responder. Read the article from the UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) site, http://www.umcor.org/UMCOR/Resources/News-Stories/2013/May/0521-After-Moore-Tornado.

Then, give and know that 100% of what you donate through UMCOR goes to help those who need it most! How can you give? Donations can be made on line or by writing a check to LHUMC designating it for UMCOR Advance #901670.
