Dear Members of Laurel Hill UMC,
Greetings to you through the name of Jesus Christ! We are approaching a new season, Fall. Thanks be to God for this beautiful season!
It’s been a great blessing to us during the summer for many faithful servants of “The Hill” (I will use this term for Laurel Hill UMC afterward) to make VBS successful. Angelar Ragland showed her excellent leadership for this program. Thank you all who helped with this wonderful ministry.
And it is another joy for us to set aside Shepherds and Associate Shepherds who serve the House Church Ministry. I pray that this will be a momentum for the renewal of “The Hill.”
We are in the middle of the transitional moment of our beloved denomination the United Methodist Church through next year’s General Conference. There was a report in UM News that there have been several gatherings of a group of top leaders from Traditionalist, Centrist and Progressive for the current issue of United Methodist Church. It is more likely our denomination needs to change in accordance to two or three different theological stances. I believe we should not be shaken by this news which had been expected already. Rather we could use this change in a positive way at “The Hill.” We need to be ready before something comes right in front of our door. I believe the House Church Movement at this time is appropriate to cope up with this atmosphere. I want you to join this renewal movement of “The Hill.”
“I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” (Acts 2:17)
We must come home to the Glorious Gospel. We need to rebuild our church at this time. We must not lose this valuable moment. Ask God to fill your pastor with content the Holy Spirit can use to win lost souls! Lift up the name of Jesus. The Charge Conference on October 15th is a beginning time the Good News must once again roll off our tongue in the community of “THE HILL!”
