Isn’t this a beautiful September morning? It was taken just before sunrise right after a storm had passed over. We at Laurel Hill United Methodist are looking forward to the beautiful things God will do with us in the month ahead and you can read all about it in our September newsletter. You can also get ready for things using the calendar and the Lay Ministers’ schedule.

Check out the Bulletin for this Sunday, August 12th. Don’t forget, this is our Sunday to celebrate Vacation Bible School and God’s Amazing Wonders Aviation! It’s been a great week and I hope to see you Sunday for our worship service together. Bring a covered dish and enjoy the special treat of homemade barbecue for our luncheon following the 11:00am service.
First Day MVP
The Babe Ruth Softball World Series is underway in Wilson, NC and one of our members, Harley Gostel (00) was named first day MVP as their New Kent, VA team defeated a team from Colorado. Today, they play Washington, North Carolina.
Keep Harley, Sheree and Keith in your prayers. If Harley’s team continues to win they will play through Tuesday.
Biggest Redskin’s Fans
Thomas Gardner from Good Neighbor Village and a member of Laurel Hill was entered in the mayor’s ‘Biggest Redskin’s Fan in Richmond Contest’. He won! and asked Mesieta Love (who is crazy about the Redskins as well) to join him! They traveled to DC on VIP bus with Mayor’s Richmond Redskins Committee and other 7 winners to attend Fan Appreciation Day. There, they got to meet the players and coaches before the practice game!
They were told to get to the bus by 7:30 a.m. Mesieta was there at 7:00am and Thomas got there a few minutes later. No one else showed til 7:20 ish. THESE TWO ARE DEFINITELY THE BIGGEST FAN’S EVER!
Here’s the picture of the two of them waiting for the bus and the picture that was submitted to the contest. We are so glad Thomas won. Also glad Meseita could go!
